Upside Down is a decorative extension. When you switch it on for a tab, it draws a visual overlay on top of the page you are viewing — a darker, foggier appearance with floating particles. Its single purpose is to change how a web page looks, on the tabs you choose, while you choose. It is off by default and only does anything after you turn it on.
We want to be explicit, because this is the part reviewers and users care about most. Upside Down does not collect, record, read, store, or transmit any of the following:
The extension never sends information to us or to any third party, because it makes no network requests at all.
Upside Down saves two preferences so your settings persist between sessions:
These two numbers are stored on your own device using Chrome's local
storage (chrome.storage.local). They never leave your device, are
not transmitted anywhere, and are not accessible to the developer or anyone
else. They contain no personal information.
To draw the overlay, the extension inserts its own visual elements on top of the page you are viewing and applies a color effect over it. It does not read, copy, scrape, analyze, or transmit the contents of the page. The overlay ignores your clicks and input, which pass straight through to the underlying page. Nothing about the page or your activity on it is recorded.
The effect is entirely user-initiated:
Because the extension stores only local display settings and collects no personal or browsing data, there is no personal data collection for you to opt in or out of.
We do not share, sell, rent, or transfer any user data to any third party, because we do not collect any user data. We do not use any data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
Upside Down does not use Google APIs and does not access Google user data. To the extent any user data is handled by the extension, its use complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Your two local settings remain on your device until you change them, clear your browser's extension data, or uninstall the extension. We hold no data on any server, because the extension has no server and makes no network calls.
The extension is a general-audience visual tool. It does not collect data from anyone, including children.
Since no data is collected or transmitted, there is no data in transit or on a server to be exposed. The only stored values are local display settings managed by your own browser.
